The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are one of the few indigenous Christian groups to be established on North American soil. Founded in the early 1800's by Thomas and Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone, the Christian Church was initiated as a non-denominational ecumenical movement. From these humble pioneer beginnings have arisen many denominational bodies, including the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the United Church of Christ, the Church of Christ, and several non-denominational Christian Churches.
Founded on principles such as congregational government and the weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) continues the ecumenical traditions of our ancestors. We are committed to Christian unity and diversity and encourage the individual interpretation of the scriptures. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) practices an open table where all believers are welcome.
