Title: "Thoughts In Verse"
By George A. Wiens

YOUR COMMITMENT

WE SAY WE WANT TO SERVE THE LORD
IN EVERTHING WE DO,
BUT ARE WE REALLY WILLING
TO BE THAT FAITFUL FEW.

THE FEW THAT BEAR THE BURDEN,
THE WORRY, AND THE LOAD.
THE FEW THAT SAY "I WILL GO, LORD",
AND THEN START DOWN THE ROAD.

THERE ARE THOSE WHO MAKE THIS PROMISE
WHEN THINGS ARE GOING FINE,
AND THERE IS NO INCONVENIENCE
AND THE SUN AND STARS STILL SHINE.

BUT WHEN THE JOB IS DIFFICULT,
AND A COMMITMENT MUST BE MADE,
THOSE PEOPLE HEAD FOR SHELTER,
OR LAY BACK IN THE SHADE.

WHEN YOU SAY "GOD I AM WILLING
TO FOLLOW YOUR COMMAND",
GOD WILL HOLD YOU TO YOUR PROMISE,
BUT, HE'LL GUIDE YOU BY THE HAND.

DON'T MAKE THIS COMMITMENT LIGHTLY.
GOD DOES NOT COMPROMISE.
IF YOU DON'T REALLY MEAN IT,
THEN YOU HAVE TOLD GOD LIES.

WITH THIS COMMITMENT COMES THE BLESSING
GOD PROMISES TO GIVE.
A BLESSING BEYOND ALL MEASURE,
AND A HAPPY LIFE TO LIVE.
